Customs Court re-issues NBWs against absconders booked in HSD smuggling case

KARACHI: The Customs Court re-issued non-bailable warrants against absconding suspects namely Raheemullah son of Badsha Din alias Raheem Jan, Kareem Jan, Abdul Samad Bizanjo son of Abdul Kareem, Leemon Khan son of Gul Muhammad Brohi, Adul Kabeer son of Ghulam Nabi, who were booked in a case of attempting to smuggle non-duty paid foreign 25,000 liters high speed diesel (HSD).

On Monday, the investigation officer submitted that on credible information, a team of ASO intercepted an oil tanker bearing registration number TUB-890 loaded with HSD and was signaled to stop near National Highway. During the search, the team recovered 25,000 liters HSD which was being transported from Hub-Baluchistan.

The investigation officer further informed the court that all suspects are absconders and prosecution is trying its best to arrest them. After the hearing court issued non-able able warrants against them and directed investigation officer to arrest and produce them on next date of hearing.

According to the prosecution, case was registered against them for violation of under section 2 (s) 16, 157 of the Customs Act, 1969 read with section 3 (1) of the Import & Export (Control) Act, 1950, punishable under clauses 8 (i) 85 & 89 of section 156 (i) of the customs act, 1969 and section 157 (2) ibid read with SRO 566(1)/ 2005 dated 6/6/2005.
