Customs Court rejects bail of accused involved in mobile phone smuggling

LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling rejected the post arrest bail plea of accused who is involved in mobile phones smuggling case. The accused was in custody of the Customs Investigation and Prosecution team for interrogation.

According to brief facts of the case on directions of Collector Preventive Faiz Ahmad, the ASO team raided a house near Karin Hospital and recovered a huge quantity of smuggled mobile phones.

During investigations it was revealed that accused persons were smuggling mobile phones from Peshawar since long time and supplying the same in mobile markets of the Lahore city.

In pursuance of the above information warrant u/s 162 of the Customs Act,1969 were obtained from the Judicial Magistrate, Lahore, the staff raided on the warehouse.

The search operation was conducted in the presence of above said house owners and other witnesses which led to the recovery of more than 300 mobile phones. Customs team also arrested three accused persons from the spot.
