ISLAMABAD: The Rawalpindi Customs Special Court has rejected bail applications by TCS Regional Manager Ghazanfar Gul and Smart Zone Company CEO Shakirullah and sent both of them to Adiala Jail on a judicial remand until November 3, 2014.

The accused can challenge the decision in a high court which has the jurisdiction to grant them bail. However, official circles are taking the court decision as a victory of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation authorities who have efficiently pursued the smuggling case.

“The defence lawyers have failed to prove innocence of both the accused. So in the light of documents presented by customs authorities, it is proved that this is a smuggling case and the court cannot grant them bail,” the special court Judge Muhammad Ahmed Farooq Chaudhry remarked.
