Customs court releases accused tax evader

KARACHI: Customs Taxation & Anti-Smuggling Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi directed the Superintendent Jail Central Karachi to release the accused, Mirza Muhammad Azeem S/o Mirza Muhammad Iqbal, on bail if he is not required in any other case. He was booked in a mega tax evasion case.

During the hearing, surety of abovementioned accused Mirza Muhammad Azeem Baig S/o Mirza Muhammad Iqbal Baig, on behalf of the accused, submitted surety of Rs100000.

After the formalities, the court directed the jail authorities to release him if he is not required in any other case. The court issued notices to special prosecutor for customs department and call police paper. The court also directed the accused to appear before the court on next date of hearing.

According to the prosecution, case No 693/DCI/Tax/Fake/Input/2011 was registered against Mirza Muhammad Azeem and other in violation of Section 33 of the Sales Tax Act-1990.
