Customs Court seeks challan against suspects in non-duty paid Toyota Hilax Surf case

KARACHI: Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi directed the investigation officer to complete investigations and submit a complete charge sheet against suspects who were booked in a case of smuggled/ non-duty paid Toyota Hilux Surf SSRG jeep bearing registration number WAG-466.

During the hearing, the investigation officer produced FIR before the court and submitted that officials of the customs department intercepted the vehicle worth Rs 2,470,466 near Shariabad, Karachi which was found smuggled/ non-duty paid.

The investigation officer told the court that the prosecution is trying to arrest the suspects and they would be produced before the court. The case was registered against unknown persons under section 2 (s) 32 and 178 of Customs Act 1969 punishable under clauses (8) (89) and (14) of section 156 (I) ibid.
