Customs Court seeks charge sheet against M/s Elysium Corporation, M/s Zamzam Plastic Industries & others

KARACHI: The Customs Court directed investigation officer of Customs Collectorate Port Qasim to complete investigation against proprietor, owner and partners of M/s Elysium Corporation, proprietor, owner and partners of M/s Zamzam Plastic Industries, Muhammad Hussain, proprietor of M/s Ahsan Traders Karachi, Adnan employee of M/s Ahsan Traders, manager and concerned staff of M/s Modern Terminal Operator and others for illegal clearance of PVC scrap.

On May 29, 2019, investigation officer submitted first information report (FIR) against the above mentioned suspects and informed that M/s Elysium Corporation imported a consignment comprising 2&40 containers containing PVC scrap having weight of 42780 kilograms from United Kingdom, however, the said importer was not entitled to import PVC scrap for the reason that the unit has no adequate manufacturing facility which is prime pre-requisite condition to import the PVC scrap and in this regard a contravention report dated May 23, 2019 has been made against the said unit.

He further submitted that on actionable information, a team of customs department raided the premises of said importer and found the above mentioned goods in the containers in plastic metalized film in rolls of standard quality, plastic transparent film in rolls of standard quality and end core paper waste.

He argued that during the investigation, it is established that in connivance with their clearing agent and their other accomplices/facilitators have made an attempt to cross stuffed illegally in order to get clearance of the restricted items.

He stated that first information report has been lodged and investigation is under way and progress report will be produced on next date of hearing.

After the hearing court taken FIR into court record and directed investigation officer to complete investigations and submit charge sheet on next date of hearing.
