Customs Court seeks final challan of tax evasion case

KARACHI: Custom Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi has issued non-bail able warrant for Zahid Bashir Puri, Ghazi Anwar Mustafa and Abdul Waheed in a mega tax evasion case. The court also directed the investigation officer to submit a final challan on the next date of hearing.

During the hearing, Muhammad Iqbal, Muhammad Shoaib and Muhammad Ashraf and others appeared before the court on bail. During the hearing, the investigation officer sough time to submit a final challan, therefore, the court accepted his request and adjourned the hearing for next month.

It is necessary to mention here that court had declared the suspects, Zahid Bashir Puri, Ghazi Anwar Mustafa and Abdul Waheed, as proclaimed offenders.

According to the prosecution, during the examination accused were found attempting to fake 11 goods declarations and evaded duty and taxes amounting to Rs 4,801,950.00 (approximately).

A case was registered by complainant S. Iqbal Raza Naqvi senior intelligence officer Directorate General of Intelligence & Investigation-FBR.
