Customs Court seeks final charge-sheet of betel nuts smuggling case

KARACHI: The Customs Court directed Pakistan Coast Guards (PCG) to complete investigations and submit final charge-sheet against suspects namely Jan Muhammad son of Khudai Nazar and Najeeb Ullah son of Merban Khan.

On September 13, 2018, Subedar Hafiz Muhammad Amir appeared before the court and sought further time to submit final charge-sheet, therefore, court granted time and adjourned the matter for next date of hearing.

According to the prosecution, team of the Pakistan Coast Guards arrested the above mentioned suspects and recovered 14867 kilogram betel nuts, 2812 kilogram foreign cloths and 3300 packets of gutka Gold Z from their possession.

As per FIR, a case was registered for violation of under Section 2 (s) 156 (2) 157 (2) and 178 of Customs Act, 1969 punishable under Clause 8 & 89 of Section 156 (1) ibid read with Section (i) of Imports & Exports Control Act, 1950 and others related laws.
