Customs Court seeks interim challan of suspect involved in Rs 10.6m smuggling scam

LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has directed the investigation and prosecution team of the Customs Intelligence Gujranwala to submit interim challan of a suspect during the next hearing.

Earlier, the Customs Court had approved the bail plea of accused Saeedul Haq who was arrested from Gujranwala in a smuggling case.

Sources told Customs Today that Saeedul Haq was arrested by the Customs Intelligence Gujranwala and a huge quantity of smuggled goods were recovered from a truck which was being unloaded at his warehouse. The market value of the seized goods is Rs 10.6 million.

The Customs intelligence recovered clothes, shoes and other items from the truck bearing registration number IDT 3267. Sources said that the recovered items were being smuggled from Afghanistan through Balochistan.
