LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has asked the investigation team of customs to submit an investigation challan of a case of mobile-phone smuggling worth Rs6million. Earlier, the court has approved the post-arrest bail pleas of the accused and released them.
Accused Abdul Waheed and Agha Wali were held by the customs intelligence authorities from The Mall area of Lahore. The bail pleas of the accused were granted by customs judge Shakeel Ahmad against the cash guarantee of Rs500000 each.
During a proceeding of the case on Wednesday, the court ordered the investigation team to complete the challan as soon as possible so as to conclude the case.
The customs intelligence and investigation team presented them before the customs court for getting their physical remand to investigate more on the issue.
Both accused Agha Wali and Abdul Waheed were supplying these mobile phones to some traders of Hall Road which is the largest mobile phones market of Punjab.
The customs intelligence recovered 324 mobile phones. By smuggling these cell phones, the accused have caused the national kitty a big loss in the wake of duties and taxes. During a search of the luggage of the goods in their car, the customs intelligence found mobile phones that they were trying to smuggle.
The customs authorities have registered a case against them under the Pakistan Customs Act-1969.
