Customs Court seeks progress report against M/s Al-Mahmood Coach, M/s J J Movers Coach & others in goods smuggling case

KARACHI: The Customs Court directed investigation officer to complete investigation against owners, partners of M/s Al-Mahmood Coach, M/s J J Movers Coach and others, who are nominated in a first information report (FIR) for smuggling of huge quantities of contraband and other smuggled goods.

On 3 July 2021, investigation officer submitted that on an actionable information that some unscrupulous persons are involved in the transportation of various smuggled/ non-duty paid/ injurious to health foreign goods through Al Mahmood Passenger Buses and subsequently dumping/ storage of these goods at Al-Mehmood Coach Adda, Sohrab Goth, Super Highway, Karachi, for further disposal and illegal supply to up country in the local market.

He further informed the court that during the visit, customs officials found 1720 rolls weighing 21,150 kilograms assorted cloth. 2 pcs Samsung UHD TV Samsung Egypt brand, 35 pcs of INVT original Inverter, 3 pcs bicycle, 700 kilogram betel nuts, 06 pcs portable mini heater. 03 pcs star set satellite receiver. 7200 pouches of Taj Filter Khani naswar, 192 pcs of Dirham Body Spray made in UAE. 528 pcs of FA Bar Soap made by UAE and other goods. Investigation officer argues that after the formalities, customs officials lodged a first information report and investigation in the matter is underway, a progress report would be produced before the court.

After the hearing, the court took FIR into court record and directed the investigation officer to complete the investigation and submit a progress report for the next date of hearing.
