Customs Court sends ‘tax evaders’ of Rs 3.8m on two-day physical remand

LAHORE: The Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has sent two accused in a case of tax evasion of Rs 3.8 million on a two-day physical remand for interrogation.

According to details, accused Muhammad Ramzan and Syed Fazal and Abbas Shah tried to clear the imported consignment by mis-declaring the items through Model Customs Collectorate Faisalabad. The importer had declared the consignment, imported from China, as toys while the customs authorities found motor engines in the container, on which the MCC Faisalabad confiscated the consignment.

On Monday, customs authorities presented the accused before the court to get their physical remand. The counsels for customs and the accused presented their arguments in favour of their respective parties.
