Customs Court sends alleged gold smuggler on judicial remand

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-smuggling has sent accused Abdul Basit, who was involved in gold and currency smuggling, on judicial remand.

Abdul Basit was arrested by Model Customs Collectorate Preventive while he was attempting to smuggle 15 kilograms of gold and foreign currency worth Rs 33.2 million at Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore. Special Judge of the Customs Court Nazeer Ahmad Gajana has sent him to jail on fourteen days judicial remand.  Abdul Basit was trying to leave for Dubai by Airblue flight PA-410.
