Customs Court sends alleged tyres’ smuggler on remand

LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti Smuggling has handed over an accused to customs investigation and prosecuting team for interrogation who was arrested by the customs intelligence in tyres smuggling.

According to details available to customs today customs intelligence intercepted a truck coming from Quetta near Thokar Niaz baig. While the searching of the truck customs intelligence officials found huge quantity of smuggled tyres very technically hidden and packed. Sources said that tyres were packed almost five in one tyre. From the founded tyres included costly tyres of Pajeroz, Mazad trucks and other vehicles. Different brands of tyres were recovered from that truck.

Sources told that recovered tyres were almost of Rs5 million in national market and that were being carried to Lahore for a businessman Mati Ur Rehman.

On Monday customs team presented him before the court of Chaudary Ameer Muhammad Khan were the honourable judge handed over him to customs team for interrogation for four days physical remand.
