LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has remanded a currency smuggling suspect into the Customs custody on two days physical remand.
According to the details, the Customs Preventive officials deputed at Lahore airport intercepted a passenger namely as Tahir Bharwana who was going to Bahrain through a private airline and checked his luggage.
During the checking, the officials recovered $7,135 and 16,000 Bahraini Dinars having worth equal to Rs 5.2 million that was violation of the Customs laws.
The custom team arrested the accused and registered a case against him under Section 2 (s), 16, 139, 156, (17), 87 (70), and 178 of Customs Act of Pakistan, 1969.
FIR No. 4/16 was registered against the accused here at Lahore Customs Investigation and Prosecution.
Customs Court on request of Customs Investigation and Prosecution approved two days physical remand for interrogation.
