LAHORE: Special Judge of Customs Court Chaudhry Ameer Muhammad Khan has sent an alleged gold smuggler, Muhammad Rizwan, to jail on judicial remand for 14 days.
As per details, Muhammad Rizwan son of Hadayatullah, a resident of Kot Khawaja Saeed, Lahore, was arrested by the Customs Preventive at Allam Iqbal International Airport in November 2014. The Customs authorities had arrested him for smuggling 600 tola of gold worth Rs 30 million.
He was in the custody of the Customs investigation team that grilled him to dig out more persons behind smuggling. After interrogations, he was on judicial remand for 14 days.
Earlier, the Customs authorities had also arrested another passenger who was trying to smuggle four kilogram of gold from Sharja to Lahore.
