Customs Court sends gold smuggler to jail on judicial remand

LAHORE: Chaudary Ameer Muhammad Khan, the special judge of the Customs and Taxation Court, has sent Muhammad Rizwan, an alleged smuggler, to jail on a 14-day judicial remand.

Earlier, accused Muhammad Rizwan was on physical remand for four days and he was in custody of Customs investigation team that investigated from the accused to dig out more persons behind his business of smuggling.

It is revealed during investigation that he was only a dummy and is professional smuggler who is sending different items to other countries on hiring basis.

Earlier, Customs Preventive had confiscated seven kilograms of gold from him at Allama Iqbal International Airport.

Muhammad Rizwan son of Hadayatullah, a resident of Kot Khawaja Saeed, Lahore was booked by the Customs airport authorities when they recovered 600-tola gold from his possession.

It was said that the gold is valued at Rs 30 million the passenger was coming from Dubai by Emirates flight EK-622.
