Customs Court sends suspect to jail in HSD smuggling case

KARACHI: The Customs Court sent suspect namely Bakht Badeir son of Behra Mand Khan to Central Jail on judicial remand, who was arrested in a case of attempting to smuggle non-duty paid 10,000 liters high speed diesel.

On April 30, 2019, investigation officer produced the above-mentioned suspect before the court and informed that on an actionable information, customs officials intercepted a Hino water tanker bearing registration number TTC-968 and the driver of said vehicle was asked about the load in his tanker under any concealment, to which he replied that the vehicle is loaded with water.

He further submitted that during search of the aforesaid vehicle it was observed that there were total three chambers inside the water tank, the first and third chamber were loaded with diesel whereas the central chamber was filled with water tank.

Investigation officer said that after the formalities, driver was arrested and goods along with water tanker were seized by the officials of customs department.

After the hearing, court sent suspect to jail and directed investigation officer to complete investigation and submit charge sheet on next date of hearing.
