Customs Court submits interim charge sheet in mobile smuggling case

KARACHI: The Customs Court accepted interim charge sheet against suspect lady namely Seema Rauf daughter of Abdul Rauf, who was booked in a case of attempting to smuggled non-duty paid foreign origin mobile phones and memory cards worth Rs5,809,413.

On November 02, 2018, investigation officer submitted interim challan and informed the court that on credible information the above mentioned lady was intercepted at International Arrival Hall, JIAP, who arrived from Dubai by M/s Emirate Airline’s flight no: EK-608 and she was asked to search her body and luggage.

Investigation officer further informed the court that during the search, customs officials found 11 i-Phones-7 worth Rs541, 200. 03 I-Phone-X new worth Rs369,000 and 36,000 memory cards worth Rs 4,899,213 from a pair of black color crepe bandage and one black color polyester swimming costume speedo brand, worn by above lady for concealment of mobile phones and memory cards.

He submitted that she was asked to produce lawful documents of said goods, however, she fails to produce any lawful documents, therefore, after formalities, she was taken into custody and goods also were seized by the customs officials.

After the hearing, court accepted challan and directed investigation officer to complete investigation and submit final challan, court also fixed hearing for supply of copy to accused’s counsel and adjourned the matter for next date of hearing.
