Customs court takes FIR into record against M/s Premiun Enterprises in mis-declaration case

KARACHI: The Customs Court has directed investigation officer to complete investigation and submit progress report against suspect namely Muhammad Yousaf, proprietor of M/s Premiun Enterprises, Irfan Baig, Jahanzeb Yamin and Muhammad Nihal, who were booked in a case evasion of duty and taxes amounting to Rs46,434, 809 by mis-declaration.

On 4 September 2020, investigation officer submitted that the above mentioned importer and others suspects imported consignment declared as tyre and tube with flaps 1100R20-18PR 520 sets value of US$ 147 set (Rs12, 389, 638), however, during the course of checking, customs officials found 53,930 kgs betel nuts in jute bags.

He submitted that during the investigation, in was established that above the mentioned suspects are involved in mis-declaration of description of goods, classification, import of restricted goods, therefore, they are found guilty of offence as defined under the provisions 2 (s), 16 32(1), 32A, 79 (1) and 178 of the customs act, 1969 and section 1 (3) of the imports and export control act, 1956 read with appendix-B of import policy order in-vogue and section 148 of the income tax ordinance 2001, punishable under clauses 1, 9, 14, 14A, 43, 45 & 89 of section 156 (1) of the ibid.

After the hearing, court has taken first information report on court record and directed investigation officer to complete investigation and submit progress report on next date of hearing.
