Customs Court to announce verdict in currency smuggling case in next hearing

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling said that it will announce verdict in a currency smuggling case in next hearing, while the suspect in the case is on judicial remand.

Shahbaz Ahmad was arrested by Customs Preventive at Lahore airport while he was trying to smuggle foreign currency worth Rs 5.2 million to Muscat through a private airline No. PA-450.

The accused tactfully fixed the Omani rials with his body which was removed by the customs authorities in the presence of Customs ADC Sumer Ahmad Tarar while inspector Nadeem Iqbal and others were also present.

Case against him is in process in special federal Customs court which will announce its verdict in next week as most of the prosecution has completed and investigation has also done.

He has already passed three days in custody of Customs Intelligence and got judicial remand as well.
