Customs department committed to facilitate businessmen: Collector Gul Rahman

PESHAWAR: The customs department has embarked upon a policy of facilitating business community of the country by providing them maximum facilities besides generating revenue for the official kitty said by Collector Customs Gull Rahman.

The Model Customs Collectorate Peshawar has become a progressing organization where no one can fleece the traders in name of documentation, che Collector said this while giving interview to Customs Today.

He apprised participants that Pakistan Customs has made phenomenal progress in the use of technology in recent years. The updated website of customs department also have all relevant information which has facilitated all stakeholders including general public.

We have installed digital cameras at various customs stations and offices for better monitoring and enforcement, he said and added that several other projects like the digitization of office record and an automated Human Resource Management System has been also completed.

The Collector Customs added that for almost 20 years earlier in customs department Peshawar there was only one collector for whole KP, FATA and Gilgit Baltistan, but now there are around 1000 officials in the whole Khyber Pakhtunkhwa beside Collector for Gilgit Customs Station.

The collector customs further said that the work sharing procedure had been enhanced in the department and the WebBOC service also has been established at Torkham Customs Station.

The Collector said that soon the WeBOC system would be launched at new established customs posts in Kurram Agency in order to regulate the trade from Afghanistan via Khurram Agency.

The collector customs lauded the customs officials for modifying customs department from tax imposition force to customs laws enforcement department and have expressed that for current year World’s Customs Organizations agenda the Pakistan Customs has acquired the required procedures for facilitating trade through best border management.
