Customs department to plant 10000 trees

LUDHIANA: Office of commissioner of customs,Ludhiana has started a plantation drive under the supervision of Dr. Y.D. Banga, IRS, Commissioner of Customs Ludhiana. On Friday department’s officers planted saplings around their office at Inland container depot Sahnewal. Speaking on the occasion Banga said, “Due to the significant rise in pollution for various reasons and non-plantation of trees, we are aheading towards global warming.

Every day thousands of trees are fell for one reason or the other without realizing the consequences. Therefore, to create healthy environment and to save the earth, it is of utmost importance to plant trees” he also added, “I discussed this with my team who in turn decided to initiate steps to make the city of Ludhiana green and more environmental friendly and we have decided that we will plant at least 10000 trees in four phases and 3000 in first phase of our campaign” Meanwhile others present on this occasion included Harkirpal Khatana, Deputy Commissioner, Subhash Batra, Assistant Commissioner, Vinod Kumar Superintendent, R.P. Singh, Superintendent.
