Customs deputy collector orders to confiscate NDP Honda Civic

LAHORE: Deputy Collector Customs Adjudication Mohammad Hassan Farid has issued an Order-in-Original (ON) No. 237/2017 by declaring seizure of non duty paid Honda Civic as legal.

According to the details, ASO team intercepted a Honda Accord car bearing registration plate number NV-542 (Islamabad) opposite Moon Market, Allama Iqbal Town, Lahore. The person available on driving seat claimed the ownership of the above said car and introduced himself as Ahsan Rehman son of Abdul Rehman Malik. On demand the said owner failed to provide any legal documents regarding possession of the vehicle.

Initially the said vehicle was detained under section 2 (kk) of Customs Act 1969 for want of import document. During proceedings in Adjudication department the owner appeared and submitted the documents. The documents were forwarded to Punjab Forensic Science Agency, Lahore for examination of its chassis frame.

The Punjab Forensic Science Agency in its report concluded that the chassis number of the said vehicle has been tempered. The engine number of the above said vehicle has not been tempered.

After going through all details Deputy Collector Customs Adjudication Beelamur Ramzan declared the seizure of non duty paid Honda Civic car as legal.

It is necessary to mention that after the start of new Fiscal Year Customs Adjudication department is already expedited their efforts to conclude the hearing of pending cases on priority basis.
