KARACHI: The Customs Department of R and D thwarted an attempt to clear imported consignments on less value. Through this, the Customs has averted losses worth millions of rupees to the national exchequer.
Sources told Customs Today that during the month of July, 2015, auto parts, electronics items, old clothes, old computers and their accessories, textile fabric including 39 imported consignments were cleared through mis-declaration and showing less value of these items. Through this national kitty bears a loss of Rs 2,56,76,000.
Sources said that during the month of July, 2015 authorities successfully deducted 97 cases of mis-declaration, while Rs 3,000,000 were recovered from defaulters.
