Customs detects tax evasion of Rs1.508m by Al Hamdo Lillah Export

FAISALABAD: The Model customs Collectorate, Faisalabad Assistant Collector idrees Qureshi has detected tax evasion and short payment of duty and taxes amounting to Rs1.508 million allegedly by M/s Al Hamdo Lillah Export in terms of clause undue benefits of SRO on the said company.

Sources told Customs Today that the company import temporary assorted gauge sponges falling under PCT Heading 3005.1090 Vide Good declaration ( G.D ), No, FDRY-HC-472 dated 28-1-2014 and got it cleared free from payments duty and taxes under SRO rules 492(I)/2009 dated 13-6-2009.

The said importer was required under SRO rules to re export the said goods upto 27-7-2015 within eighteen months from the date of import but the said company have not exported the goods within the period. In View of the foregoing Facts, there is a sufficient reason to believe that the exporter has failed to export the temporary within stipulated time. This Omission caused loss to the national kitty as custom duty Rs, 694,409 sales tax Rs590,247.

Therefore, the additional duty and other taxes are also recoverable from the importer as such as contravened the provision of section 18 and 19 of the Customs Act 1969, punishable under section 156(1)(1) and 10(A) of the custom act 1969.

The audit team comprising Assistant Collector Muhammad Idrees Superintendent Syed javeed Hussain Sherazi and Inspector Asif Hussain. The contravention report may be forward to the additional collector of Customs adjudication Faisalabad for adjudication please.
