DUBLIN: Wine, spirits and cigarettes worth almost €2,500 have been seized at Dublin Port. Customs dog Bill helped officers find them hidden in a van which arrived from Bulgaria via Holyhead. 23 litres of wine, 12 litres of liquor, 660 cigarettes branded ‘Marlboro’ and ‘Vogue’ and 3 kg of tobacco branded ‘L&M’ and ‘Marlboro’ were found this morning.
The smuggled alcohol and tobacco products where hidden in the van which had travelled to Dublin from Bulgaria via Holyhead. Two Bulgarian men, aged in their 40’s, have been questioned. Revenue has asked anyone who has “any information regarding the smuggling or sale of illegal alcohol or tobacco products, they can contact Revenue in confidence on free phone number 1800 295 295.”
