Customs earns Rs 19m through auction

ISLAMABAD: Model Customs Collectorate generated Rs 19 million through auction of confiscated vehicles and various goods.

Assistant Collector Tahir Khattak told Customs Today that Islamabad Customs aimed at exceeding the revenue target for the current fiscal year, adding that the collectrate held third auction in a month i.e. June 24, 2016 on the directions of Collector Dr Arslan Subuctageen.

The auction was supervised by Tahir Khattak in which the people from Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Peshawar participated. It was an open auction for all participants.

The vehicles, including Toyota Land Cruiser, Toyota Crown, Toyota double cabin, Toyota surf, Toyota Hiace, Toyota Sprinter, Nissan support car, Nissan Safe-co, Nissan Magma and Nissan double cabin, and five lots of miscellaneous goods were auctioned successfully through transparent process.

The assistant collector further informed that the vehicles with changed or altered chassis numbers were not presented for auction.

The generation of revenue through auction will help the collectorate to meet the set revenue targets for the running fiscal year, he said, adding that all other departments were also striving to collect maximum revenue by the end of the year.

The participants said that the auction was held in good manners by the customs officials, adding that the whole process was fully disciplined and transparent.
