Customs earns Rs20.047m by auctioning off impounded goods & vehicles

ISLAMABAD: The Customs Auction Cell of the Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Islamabad earned Rs20.047million by auctioning off impounded goods and Non-Duty-Paid (NDP) vehicles through public auction held on 13th of May’s Financial Year FY2016-17 here at the State Warehouse G-11 Islamabad.

According to Customs Auction Cell Islamabad, people from all walks of life, including the cities of Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Peshawar, participated in the auction. The auction was organized by the Alvi Auctioneers and Customs staff under the supervision of Assistant Collector Auction. The auction has fetched some handsome revenue. The bidders had deposited 25% out of total worth of the lots they purchased through auction.

The auction cell collected Rs8.737million through sale of various kinds of smuggled goods including scrape, LED TVs, foreign origin fabrics and auto parts and soft drinks. About 38 lots were sold whereas 50 lots were set for sale.
The auction cell earned Rs11.31million through auction of impounded NDP vehicles which include Toyota Corona-1982 Model, Hyundai car-1990 Model, Mercedes Benz car two-door-2004 model, Toyota vitz car 1000cc 2002-model, Mercedes Benz car CLS-350 (AMG) 2005 model, Mitsubishi Lancer car-1990 model, Toyota Hilux Surf-model 1998, Nissan Sunny car model-2004, Toyota Land Cruiser-1993-model, Ford van-1995 model, Toyota Hilux Surf-1993 model, Toyota corolla car-1994 model, Toyota Land Cruiser-(LHD) 1990, LD Convoy van-2004 model and Toyota Corolla-X car-2003 model. Out of 15 NDP vehicles, 13 were sold in today’s auction.
This was the seventh auction held under the supervision of Islamabad collectorate. The auction cell will organize another auction during the current month (May FY16-17).
