Customs Enforcement impounds 24,000 liters of Iranian diesel near Northern Bypass

KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement with the assistance of Singh Police has seized 24,000 liters of smuggled Iranian diesel from a petrol pump located near Margala city, Northern Bypass. The market value of the recovered diesel and Mazda are approximately Rs14 million

Sources told Customs Today that information was passed through Collector Enforcement Basit Abbasi to Additional Collector Dawood Pirzado regarding presence of smuggled fuel.

Collectorate of Customs Enforcement team under the supervision of Deputy Collector Raza Naqvi and Preventive Officer Muhammad Zubair conducted a successful operation at Ajmer 2 petrol pump survey no 149-150 near Margalla city, Northern Bypass, Karachi.

During the operation, approximately 24,000 liters of smuggled Iranian diesel were recovered from illegal storage and underground tanks.

The customs team encountered a Mazda bearing registration NAF-424 delivering the smuggled diesel to the filling station which was taken into custody. The diesel was transported to the Customs Enforcement warehouse in two rented oil tanker vehicles for detailed examination and further legal proceedings.

Customs Enforcement team registered an FIR against the accused persons while further investigations are still underway till the filing of this report.
