MANILA: The Bureau of Customs said Friday it raised P40.24 billion in revenues in November, exceeding its collection target by 12 percent.
Customs’ collections in November were also 27 percent higher than the P29.06 billion posted in the same month last year.
The higher-than-expected collection was driven by the agency’s “positive trust rating” under the Duterte administration, Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon said. Stakeholders are now cooperating with government because of transparency in transactions, he added.
The Manila International Container Port collected P11.362.52 billion in November, exceeding its target for the month of P10.367.14 billion. Customs is tasked to collect P406 billion in revenues this year.
