The announcement came after almost a year of resistance from customs workers, that recently escalated into various forms of industrial action and ended only last week.

Sinckler, who acted as facilitator at the three-and-a-half-hour meeting, said “considerable progress had been made” in relation to major issues such as supersession and the appointment of officers, which customs employees had been demanding be addressed before they transitioned.
