Customs, Excise to launch crackdown against smuggled vehicles

SIALKOT: Two departments have decided in a meeting to launch crackdown against non-duty paid vehicles from November 5, 2016 in the whole Punjab.

Official told Customs Today that Customs Intelligence and Investigation and Excise and Taxation Departments has made a plan to start operation against non-customs paid vehicles from November 5, 2016 in Punjab.

Sources said that the officers of above mentioned departments held a meeting in Lahore and decided to start grand operation against smuggled vehicles.

Assistant Collector and Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) Incharge Fahad Bashir Choudhary told Customs Today that the meeting of said two departments was held at Lahore some days ago while the officers of the departments decided in meeting to start grand operation against non customs paid duty vehicles whereas the Customs Department is ready to participate in the grand operation. Superintendent Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department Gujranwala Region Muhammad Rauf Farooqi told that the department has vowed that the teams of department will take part in grand operation to impound the smuggled vehicles. District Officer Excise and Taxation Department Sialkot Muhammad Saleem Malik told the higher authorities of department has intimated for grand operation while the Excise and Taxation Department will compliance the orders of higher authorities to participate in grand operation to impound non customs paid vehicles.
