Customs Export directs M/s Mathiar & Sons to deposit evaded tax of Rs 2.4m

KARACHI: The Customs Export branch has issued a show cause notice to the management of M/s Mithiar and Sons, directed them to deposit evaded tax amount of Rs 2.4 million. The Customs Export has also imposed a penalty of Rs 124,000 on the company.

Sources told Customs Today that M/s Mithiar and Sons imported consignments from March 2016 to April 2016 and evaded tax and duties. During the scrutiny of import data it was revealed that M/s Mithiar and Sons availed undue benefits and concessions through import of these consignments by using wrong PCT heading.

Now Customs Export branch directed the company to clear the outstanding payable amount of R s2.4 million within fourteen days.

It is necessary to mention here that the reply of the above is still awaited, after passage of few days Customs Export authorities imposed penalty of Rs1,24,000 on the management of M/s Mathiar and Sons and asked them to clear the pending amount as soon as possible to avoid legal action.
