Customs Export collects Rs 285m taxes in June

KARACHI: The Model Customs Collectorate Exports collected Rs 285.6 million in the wake of taxes and arrears during June of the outgoing fiscal year 2015-16.

The collectorate also issued tax notices to two companies for recovery of outstanding taxes. It issued final notice to Nimra Textile and Company to recover Rs 6.723 million and a notice to Samaira Bawani Embroidery to recover Rs 3.6 million along with fine of Rs 267,000.

The Customs Export earlier issued two notices to Nimra Textile in June, 2016 directing it to clear the outstanding amount but it did not submit any reply. Now, a final notice has been served granting a time period of 7 days to pay the dues.

Meanwhile, the collectorate had issued a notice to Samaira Bawani almost 25 days ago to pay Rs 3.6 million in the wake of surcharge and other taxes but it also remained reluctant. Therefore, the department served final notice on it directing it to pay within 7days.

It was also warned that a stern action will be taken against them if they could not clear the outstanding amount within given time.

The officials also hoped to surpass the tax revenue collections made during June in running month, adding that efforts were being made to recover stuck up amount of taxes.
