Customs Export issues notice to two companies involved in tax evasion

KARACHI: Customs Export authorities issued notices to two companies which failed to submit taxes and duties. One company is located in Karachi while the other one belongs to Thattha.

Sources told Customs Today that M/s Barojee Associates which is located in Thattha is liable to pay Rs 2.2 million. The company imported fertilizers consignments after availing undue benefits through SRO 532 and evaded tax and others duties willfully. During scrutiny of import documents it was revealed that the company is involved in tax evasion. Now the Customs Export has issued a final notice to the management of M/s Barojee asking them to deposit evaded tax along with fine of Rs 88,000 within seven days.

Sources said that Customs Export authorities also issued notice to another company M/s Farida Knitwear. The company is located in Karachi. Sources said that M/s Farida Knitwear imported different consignments during the month of December and caused a loss of Rs8,00,000 to national kitty. Now customs authorities also imposed a fine of Rs1,10,000 on above said company within 14 days.
