Customs Export recovers Rs7.82m from M/s Dhani Paper Works & M/s Qadeer Associates

KARACHI: Collector Customs Export Saqif Saeed recovered evaded amount of Rs7.82 million taxes and duties from M/s Dhani Paper Works and another company M/s Qadeer Associates.

Sources told Customs Today on Wednesday that during scrutiny of the import data, it was revealed that M/s Dhani Paper Works   availed undue benefits and concessions by importing a consignment of white paper role, photo copier and fax papers by misusing the SRO 548. The consignment was cleared through Examiner Kashif Aiwan on December 8, 2017.

Sources said that the company was allegedly involved in tax evasion of Rs 5.24 million. The Customs Export started investigations after detecting the tax evasion and issued a final notice on June 26, 2018 to the company to deposit the evaded amount within 14 days.

After receiving the notice, the management of M/s Dhani Paper Works deposited the evaded amount in the official account of the Customs Export on July 18, 2018.

While the management of M/s Qadeer Associates also cleared Rs2.58 million amount of taxes and duties. Sources said that M/s Qadeer Associates also availed undue benefits and concessions and avoided paying taxes according to the customs bylaws.

The Customs Export authorities served t a final notice on June 25. The management of M/s Qadeer Associates deposited the evaded amount after receiving the final notice in this regard.
