Customs Export recovers Rs9.17m from M/s Rohail Traders & M/s Rashid Garments & Exports

KARACHI: The Customs Export recovered evaded amount of taxes and duties of Rs 9.17 million from M/s Rohail Traders and Rashid Garments and Export.

Sources told Customs Today that during scrutiny of the import data, it was revealed that M/s Rohail Traders availed undue benefits and concessions by importing different parts of air conditioners parts and dish antenna router misusing the SRO 557 through Examiner Asad Bukhari on August 22, 2017.

Sources said that the company was allegedly involved in tax evasion of Rs 6.33 million. Investigation was started after detecting the tax evasion and the Customs Export issued a final notice on May 24, 2018 to deposit the evaded amount within 14 days.

After receiving the notice, the management of M/s Rohail Traders deposited the evaded amount in the official account of the Customs Export on June 8, 2018.

While the management of the M/s Rashid Garments and Export also cleared Rs 2.84 million of taxes and duties. Sources said that M/s Rashid Garments and Export also availed undue benefits and concessions and avoided paying taxes according to the customs bylaws.

The Customs Export authorities served on it a final notice on 28th May, The management of M/s Rashid Garments and Export deposited the evaded amount of taxes on 7th June.
