Customs Exports directs M/s Shafiq Marble & M/s Hanif Traders to pay evaded taxes

KARACHI: The Custom Exports has issued show cause notices to two defaulter companies including M/s Shafiq Marble and Export and M/s Hanif Traders to pay the evaded taxes at the earliest.

According to the details, M/s Shafiq Marble and Export Karachi used wrong Pakistan Customs Tariff (PCT) headings to get a consignment of different marble table tops cleared on 22nd of August and caused a loss of Rs 1.87 million to the national treasury.

During the scrutiny of the import data, the Customs Exports team detected that the company used wrong PCT heading for which it was issued a show-cause notice no: 212/2017 to pay the evaded amounts of tax and duty.

Meanwhile, the Customs Exports unearthed another tax evasion by M/s  Hanif Traders who got cleared a consignment of Steel accessories seizers, knife, spoons set and other things.

The customs authorities, after a careful investigation, issued a show cause notice to the company and asked them to deposit the evaded tax amounts within fortnight.
