Customs Exports issues seven show cause notices for recovery of dues during 16 days

KARACHI: The Customs Exports has served seven show cause notices on tax defaulters and tax evaders for recovery of dues during 16 days of October.

Sources told Reporter that Custom Exports issued notices to different companies including M/s Muqeem and Sons, M/s Rafiq Garments and Export and others. M/s Muqeem and Sons used wrong Pakistan Customs Tariff (PCT) headings to get a consignment of plastic dinner set (75 pieces) cleared on September 4 and caused the national kitty a loss of Rs2.35million.

During the scrutiny of the import data, the Customs Exports detected the misuse of PCT heading for which it was issued with a show-cause notice No: 226/2017 for paying the evaded amounts of tax and duty.

Meanwhile, the Customs Exports unearthed another tax evasion committed by M/s Rafiq Garments and Export who got cleared a consignment of different kinds of fabrics, cotton and ladies cloths and others. The customs authorities, after a careful investigation, served a show cause notice on the company and asked it to deposit the evaded tax amounts within fortnight.

Another Company Wahab Osama Enterprises located in Korangi Karchi cleared a consignment of marble handicrafts (Table top, ashtrays and others and used wrong Pakistan Customs Tariff.

The custom authorities issued a show cause notice and mentioned to submit all the documents for consignment soon.

It is necessary to mention here that the Customs Exports has served three show cause notices on tax defaulters and tax evaders for recovery of dues during the six days of October.
