Customs Exports issues two show-cause and one final notices to retrieve dues

KARACHI: The Customs Exports has served two show cause notices and one final notice on tax defaulters and tax evaders for recovery of dues.

Sources told reporter that Custom Exports issued notices to three companies including M/s Techno Interior Company, M/s Naeema Chemicals and M/s Whistlez Silk Manufacturers Karachi.

M/s Techno Interior Company used the wrong Pakistan Customs Tariff (PCT) headings to get a consignment of used computer keyboards, power supplies and home PC computer casings on June 12 and caused the national kitty a loss of Rs2million.

During the scrutiny of the import data, the Customs Exports detected the misuse of the PCT heading for which it was issued with a show-cause notice No: 289/2017 for paying the evaded amount of tax and duty.

Meanwhile, the Customs Exports unearthed another tax evasion committed by M/s Naeema Chemicals who got cleared a consignment of different kinds of chemicals, home-using chemicals like imported high bleach, washing powders and some other items.

The customs authorities, after a careful investigation, served a show cause notice on the company and asked it to deposit the evaded tax amount in the treasury within fortnight.

Another company M/s Whistlez Silk Manufacturers Karachi got cleared a consignment of silk woolen thread. The customs authorities issued a final notice and asked to submit all the documents for consignment soon and submit the balance amount.
