Customs Exports serves notices on M/s Shafaq Handicrafts, Sultan Chemicals, Orient Textiles

KARACHI: The Custom Exports has issued show cause notices and final notices to defaulter companies including M/s Shafaq Handicrafts Karachi, M/s Sultan Chemicals Thattha and M/s Orient Textile Hyderabad to pay the evaded taxes at the earliest.

According to the details, M/s Shafaq Handicrafts and Export Karachi used wrong Pakistan Customs Tariff (PCT) headings to get a consignment of different show piece items of handicraft cleared on 16th of August and caused a loss of Rs 1.6 million to the national treasury.

During the scrutiny of the import data, the Customs Exports team detected that the company used wrong PCT heading for which it was issued a show-cause notice no: 210/2017 to pay the evaded amounts of tax and duty.

Meanwhile, the Customs Exports unearthed another tax evasion by M/s Sultan Chemicals Thatta who got cleared a consignment of sapphire acid and powder bleach. The customs authorities, after a careful investigation, issued a show cause notice to the company and asked them to deposit the evaded tax amounts within fortnight.

M/s Orient Textile Hyderabad used the wrong PCT heading to get a consignment of loan embroidery fancy suits which were cleared 12th of August. Custom Export issued the final notice to this company and caused the government kitty a loss of Rs1.9 million.
