LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) will summon Karachi customs officials to Lahore to record statements in a case of veterinary medicines import scandal.
According to sources, the FIA has decided to call customs officials from Karachi for recording statements in a case of import irregularities. “Veterinary medicines were imported from abroad to Lahore in which legal requirements were not fulfilled by the customs officials of Karachi. Now, to investigate the scandal, the FIA has decided to summon these 84 officials to Lahore step by step. The FIA was considering sending officials to Karachi to record the statements of the officials. However, the higher authorities later decided to summon these officials to Lahore,” sources said.
The customs officials who were issued warrants include principal appraisers, appraisers, examiners and others.
The officials were accused of clearing multi-million rupees pharmaceutical raw material illegally without prior permission from the federal drug department.
