Customs foils bid to smuggle 1.5kg cocaine at JIAP

KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Preventive team successfully recovered huge quantity of drugs from the possession of passengers at Jinnah International Airport (JIAP).

According to the details, in pursuance of a tip-off received by higher authorities, the staff of Customs Preventive deputed at arrival of the Jinnah International Airport Karachi (JIAP) intercepted a passenger on suspicion and asked for the language search and demanded the travel documents for the verification.

During the search, the officers of the Customs Preventive found suspicious material in the bag of a passenger. The passengers were taken to the customs area at the JIAP where complete search was carried.

The officers while conducting the search found cocaine from the luggage of the passenger who departed to Karachi Jinnah International Airport (JIAP) from Kenya. The officers of the Customs informed that the passenger arrived through Emirate Airline EK-606 and the recovered cocaine is weighting to one and a half kilograms with worth millions of rupees in the international market. The recovered cocaine was concealed and hidden in the secret places of the passenger’s luggage.

It’s worth mentioning here that during the current week Pakistan Custom Preventive successfully busted third item of smuggling at the Jinnah International Airport (JIAP) during which huge quantity of drugs were recovered. Pakistan Customs Preventive is vigilant and has kept an eagle eye over the smugglers as well as the act of smuggling.

The officers of the Customs Preventive have arrested the culprit and FIR has been lodged against the culprits whereas further investigation is underway.
