KARACHI: Customs officials have arrested a man at the Karachi airport for trying to smuggle 225,700 dirhams (Rs 64 million) to Dubai.
According to a Customs official, the Pakistani passenger, identified as Rasool Buksh, was a frequent traveller and was scheduled to board an Emirates flight to Dubai. The amount was concealed in luggage of the accused. A case has been registered against the accused.
In December last year, Customs officials arrested three passengers and recovered antiques worth millions of dollars that they were trying to smuggle out of the country.
Customs Preventive Chief Zahid Khokhar said that officials posted at the Jinnah International Airport’s international departure lounge arrested three Pakistani passengers who were heading to Bangkok, Thailand.
