ISLAMABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad has thwarted an attempt to smuggle antique/ counterfeit statues at Benazir Bhutto Airport Islamabad.
According to details, the Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad received an information that an attempt to smuggle antique/ counterfeit statues would be made through Turkish Airways on flight no. TK-711 bound for Istanbul from Benazir Bhutto Airport Islamabad.
During the clearance of the passengers, the customs team recovered eight statues, including of Buddha, from a suspect, Zafar Ali Khan’s luggage.
The Customs authority has seized the recovered statues and arrested Zafar Ali Khan and registered FIRs accordingly. Further investigations are underway.
