Customs foils bid to smuggle heroin from GPO to UK

ISLAMABAD: Customs authorities have thwarted an attempt to smuggle 750 grams of heroin through General Post Office (GPO) Islamabad to London. Heroin was hidden in ladies suits being exported to United Kingdom.

Sources told Customs Today that deputy collector of Customs Shahid Jan who was deployed at Benazir Bhutto International Airport received credible information that some accused persons are trying to smuggle heroin to United Kingdom through ladies suits. Deputy collector issued strict directions to check and examine all the parcels which were being sent abroad.

During checking process, the Customs authorities found heroin in embroidered ladies suit and seized it on the spot. These ladies suit were booked by a person who later identified as Yasir but used his forge address while receiver address were also found incorrect. Customs authorities registered a case and started further investigations in this regard.
