Customs foils bid to smuggle Rs53m foreign currency to Dubai

LAHORE: Customs Investigation and Prosecution Wing has foiled a bid to smuggle foreign currencies worth over Rs 53 million at the Allama Iqbal International Airport.

Sources in Pakistan Customs have informed that the accused were smuggling the currencies to Dubai.

Two accused namely Babar Badsha and Shafqat were attempting to smuggle foreign currencies including Saudi Riyals, UAE Dirham, Euro and others worth Rs 53,478,000 in the local market.

Customs officials, while arresting the accused, registered an FIR. Later on, the Customs Court sent the accused Shafqat to judicial custody while granted two-day remand of Babar Badshah.
