Customs generates Rs40.543m by impounding vehicles & goods during January

ISLAMABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Islamabad impounded non-duty paid vehicles and smuggled goods and earned Rs40.543million during January’s Financial Year FY2016-17.

According to details told by Deputy Collector ASO Ansar Anis that during January FY2016-17, the ASO collected handsome amount by cracking down on smugglers and tax evaders under the jurisdiction of the MCC Islamabad.

She said that during above said period, the ASO collected Rs4.50million revenue by seizing miscellaneous kinds of foreign origin smuggled goods. The ASO generated worth Rs.0.59million income by confiscating auto parts numbered 2171 during January. The same organization took into possession 2744 cartons of cigarettes and got income of Rs1.73million.

She further said that during the same period of January FY2016-17, the Anti-Smuggling Organisation collected Rs1.34million by seizing black tea weighed 4245 kilogram and it also got income of Rs1.25million by taking possession of tyres numbered 396. The ASO added that it earned Rs5.44million by confiscating 10695 yard fabric valued Rs5.44million during the abovementioned period.

She informed Customs Today that during January, the ASO collected revenue of Rs1.22million by seizing electronic goods numbered 1325 and it also impounded 17 offending vehicles valued Rs17.4million. The Anti-Smuggling Organisation took into possession four non-duty paid vehicles and the ASO also generated0.097million income by confiscating 232 blankets priced Rs0.097million. The same organization collected Rs Rs0.16million by taking possession of food grain weighed 750 kilogram and it also collected revenue of Rs1.30million by seizing 138,000 CDs/DVDs.
