LAHORE: The Customs Health Care Society held iftar dinner at a local hotel on Wednesday to raise funds for the construction of wells to provide portable water to the people of Thar .
A large number of Customs officers, including Collector of Customs Preventive Zulfiqar Younis, Collector Appraisement Muhammad Sadiq, Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Saud Imran Ahmad, Director Valuation Mubashar Baig, Additional Collector Jamil Nasir, Deputy Collector Afzal Mehmood, Assistant Collector Dr Adnan, ex-LCCI VP Kashif Anwar and a large number of businessmen and philanthropists participated in the event.
Patron –in-Chief of the Health Care Society and Collector Customs Appeal Asif Mehmood Jah told Customs Today that more than 200 wells of sweet water have been constructed for the thirsty people of Thar while more wells will be constructed for the poor people of the area.
He added that three million donation has been contributed by the philanthropists for the construction of new wells. He added that the name of the philanthropies are also craved on the well following completion of construction.
On the occasion, participants lauding Dr Asif Jah’s services for the ailing and needy humanity, said that his work for the welfare of the needy was matchless, outstanding and beyond any comparison.
On the occasion a comprehensive documentary on the work and services of the Customs Health Care Society was shown which the participants watched with utmost interest and devotion.
Renowned scholar Ora Maqbool Jan said that Dr Asif Mehmmod was lucky and fortunate that he has been selected for the well being of the humanity. He added that Allah Almighty has blessed Dr Asif Mehmood with a special power and potential which is peerless.
Dr Asif Mehmood Jah besides being a professional and experienced customs officers are also a renowned social worker who has recently been conferred Sitar-e-Imtiaz by President of Pakistan in recognition of his service for the needy people across the country.
He has been in the forefront in serving the people hit by natural calamities including floods and earthquakes across the country.
